How do we pay for Operations?

In typical Bolivian style, this is still being worked out. David will be meeting with the leadership of the IEMB and the National Fellowship of Senior Adults in 2012 to begin making estimates of costs and plans to cover those costs. Some ‘parts’ of the plan are beginning to come into focus:

  • The Bolivian National Ministry of Health is excited about this project and will pay for nurses and a Physical Therapist to work there if we build the facility.
  • The Municipality (county) of Achacalla has agreed to help pay for the cost of food.
  • The Clients can provide a little from their “Social Security”.
  • However, this is still likely to be short of the needed income.

The Current Idea for the rest:

David’s current idea is to develop a “Save the Elder” campaign similar to “Save the Children”:

  • Individuals, Senior Adult Sunday School Classes, Senior Adult Fellowship Groups or others “Sponsor” a room at the Home.
  • Photos, names and history of the individual living in the room is passed back to donor.
  • Plaque on the door naming sponsor
  • Cost is monthly (like Save the Children) for a year,
  • The amount is to be determined

This is all yet to be determined.

First you go 4 hours by dirt road from Achacachi to Timusi (some of you have been there before). It is another 1:15 past Timusi! It is a stunningly beautiful and equally sad place.  The Timusi District  had [...]
