Evangelism Equipment – Spreading the Word of God

In the poor, underdeveloped, and relatively illiterate culture of rural Bolivia, the IEMB has discovered a wonderful way to spread the gospel.

Methodist pastors and lay leaders are often invited into remote villages without a church of any kind, and asked to explain the beliefs of Methodism and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Often, these community-wide meetings, where between 10 and 100 people gather, become Evangelism Rallies, similar to the old “Brush Arbor” rallies in the U.S. These rallies are used to introduce rural communities to Methodism and generate interest in starting a new Methodist church, or used by existing congregations to invite new people into the church and into the Christian faith.

The rallies involve singing, praying, Bible study, and preaching, followed by a DVD presentation or a movie, with hundreds of people huddled around the TV. Movies are on the life of Christ, the Ten Commandments, and the life of John Wesley. Some of these DVDs have been produced by the IEMB in Aymara. Others are purchased in Spanish and are translated as they’re shown.

The rallies close with an offer of baptism and acceptance into the faith.

Our Goal:

Evangelism Equipment - TV

We hope to purchase a TV, DVD player, CD player, portable loudspeaker/ amplifier system, and a generator for each of the 14 districts in Bolivia. This way, each of the districts will have the equipment they need to continue spreading the Gospel of Christ with these rallies.

Costs to Purchase Evangelism Equipment

20” TV $500
CD & DVD Player $200
Loud Speaker/Amplifier $1,000
Total Package for a District $1,700

Please help us make it easier for these hardworking pastors in Bolivia to share Christ’s love and teachings.

First you go 4 hours by dirt road from Achacachi to Timusi (some of you have been there before). It is another 1:15 past Timusi! It is a stunningly beautiful and equally sad place.  The Timusi District  had [...]
